"What can you tell me about meritocracy?"
There was a gathering this evening,
Organized by my primary school classmates,
And I seriously did think about going.
In the end,
I didn't go.
One reason was because,
I wanted to watch "Catch Me If You Can" at home.
(Frank Abagnale Jr leh)
And the other?
Well,
I've no idea how they're going to react.
I haven't seen most of them for more than 10 years,
And I think it might be kinda awkward.
Awkward for me,
Awkward for them.
I've been so feeling so much frustration,
About how most people refuse to see me for who I am,
And simply judge me by my status as an ftm.
Sigh.
I can understand,
Why so many guys choose to go stealth.
But recently someone had to remind me,
Of the dangers of choosing this path.
"Singapore is so small,
There will always be someone who knows someone."
Oh... kay...
Damned if I tell,
And damned if I don't.
So what am I supposed to do?
Live under the expressway,
And not shower for 5 years like that Indian guy in the papers?
It's February.
I'm turning 25 in a few weeks' time,
And I'm still jobless at the quarter-century mark.
Life is not a bed of roses.
At least I'm growing hairier.
I still can't grow decent facial hair,
But at least the whiskers are somewhat visible.
And they've also started to appear on my neck,
And above the jaw.
Note: Only a few whiskers okay.
In case everyone thinks that I'm bragging.
In any case,
I've also come to the conclusion that,
No matter what the trend,
Clean-shaven will always be in.
