"I can feel it snapping already."

I wonder,
How many times the ST have to do a write-up,
About how "cool" and "in" the Livestrong bands are.

Anyway,
I was reading another of these reports again today,
And needless to say,
I was pretty amused.
Because I thought that nobody's wearing them anymore.

Alas, I was wrong.

Everyone's still buying them...
As fashion accessories.
Ha-ha.
I'm all for it if you're really, say,
For the cause behind the creation of that particular band.
But if you think that you can become instantly "cool",
By slapping on one of those bands,
You might as well sport a t-shirt that says "Welcome to 2003!".

And I just love it,
When you see someone smoking while wearing a Livestrong.
Oh, the irony.

Personally I don't mind sporting a Livestrong,
Cos I'm into clean and healthy living.
(Really!)

But those multicolored bands from Giordano and 77th Street,
Are seriously making me cringe.
I have nothing against Giordano,
I think I may have some item from them,
In my wardrobe somewhere.
But one thing they're really good at,
Is ending fashion fads really quick.

Remember when cargo pants were the rage?
Then Giordano flooded the market with their version,
And everyone stopped wearing them for a while.

The report continues to say,
The "colored bracelet trend" started in Singapore,
When Daphne Khoo sported one during the Idol competition.
No offense to Daphne,
(You guys know how much I feel for her right?)
But she certainly didn't start the ball rolling.

Actually Nike was selling colored rubber bands many years ago,
Named Baller Bands,
But they weren't for charity.
Just accessories for basketballers to rock on court.

You guys know who Kevin Garnett is right?
Nevermind,
He's a star in the NBA.
I remember seeing many pictures of him as a rookie,
Sporting a generic rubber band on his wrist.

"In place of jewelry I couldn't afford when I was young,"
He said.
I think I also wore a rubber band on my wrist,
After I came across that little nugget of information,
Cos I liked Garnett a lot.
Come on, I was sixteen.

Then came the Baller Band.
And the Livestrong.
(Which is a great idea,
Cos it raised millions for charity.)

But the picture of those 2 guys on the Sunday Times,
Wearing multiple colored bands,
Is going to give me nightmares tonight.

But that's just tonight.
Tomorrow,
I'm jumping on the "10 years too late" bandwagon,
By running out,
And grabbing a dozen of them from Giordano.
